Only 6 teams showed up for the PAYCHECK Conowingo tournament on Saturday, October 4 out of the Power Plant ramp at Peach Bottom. Several teams were on their way to Oneida Lake for the PAYCHECK Championship. Others probably went back to sleep after looking at the rainy weather.
Still, the 6 teams that were at the ramp were ready to fish. Everyone pitched in to clear one of the two ramps of major debris so everyone could launch. Teams were blasting off about 6:45AM.
All teams safely returned to the check-in area by 3:00PM. Many were worn out from dealing with the wind all day. 4 of the 6 teams checked in with a limit so it was time sto start the throwdown and see who would be champs.
Ed Steffy and Scott Johnston were the only team to target largemouth today and returned with 4 decent ones given the conditions that weighed 10.21 pounds. They said that fish number 5 was on the line about 9 times but would not stay hooked up. They received a Shimano prize package and 2 plaques.
Tom Bennett and Doug Hower had a limit that included one largemouth…probably the one that eluded Ed and Scott. They finished second with 10.87 pounds and received plaques and second place Option Pot money totaling $40.
Terry Nolt and Justin Martin carried a nice limit of smallies to the scale that weighed 13.32 pounds. They also had the tournament lunker that weighed 3.61 giving them a clean sweep…1st place, lunker, 1st Option Pot. They received 3 plaques and a total of $950 in cash…not bad for a 6 boat tournament!
The next PAYCHECK Conowingo tournament will be October 25th.
All plaques were provided by PAYCHECK Sponsor North Harford Collision Center.
