PAYCHECK Tournament Series Team Profile
Mike Sentore and Sean McKee
New Jersey tournament angler’s Mike Sentore and Sean McKee have proven themselves to be one of the most successful teams competing in the PAYCHECK Tournament Series in 2013. They not only finished the PAYCHECK Premier Marine Division as the Team of the Year, but also were crowned champions of the 2013 PAYCHECK Grand Championship.
Let’s get to know mike and Sean a little more personally.
Mike resides in Gloucester City, New Jersey with his wife, Kristen along with their two dogs and two cats. When he’s not on the water, Mike works in the commercial water treatment industry both as a Service Technician and a Sales Coordinator.
His bass rig is a classic Ranger 390 Commanche with a Mercury 4-stroke and a new Power Pole, part of the PAYCHECK Grand Championship prize package
He notes that fellow New Jersey pro Mike Iaconelli is his favorite pro angler.
Although he claims that his favorite fishing destinations are the Upper Chesapeake Bay and the Delaware River, Mike has showcased his fishing talents on other bodies of water winning tournaments and qualifying near the top in other tournament organizations. He’s one of the few guys I know who names the Delaware River as one of his personal favorites!
Mike has scored well in other Paycheck tournaments with partners Eric Danner, Marcus Griffin, and Brian Stockl when not sharing his Ranger with Sean.
Although adaptable to any style of bass fishing, Mike feels his strength lies within the realms of Power Fishing. He would prefer flippin’ a jig over any method out there but will do what it takes to catch bass given the current conditions .
Mike’s weapons of choice include St. Croix rods paired with Shimano reels. He is comfortable with these selections and credits their reliability as an asset to his success.
There is a popular cliche’ that states “Do one thing and do it well.” Mike adheres to that philosophy as he states that bass fishing is also his hobby. Dedication such as this is why Mike is so successful.
Mike boasts a 7 pound largemouth as his largest bass. A lunker like that would make any of us a proud angler.
His sponsors include Precision Tackle (www.pttackle.com), Bill Lewis Lures, and partner Sean McKee.
Sean McKee, the other half of this formidable team resides in Haddon Heights, New Jersey with his wife. They have one dog and one foster dog in their family.
Sean is a full time Audiologist. He treats those who have suffered hearing loss or have hearing, balance, of related disorders. I’m sure those under his care are in good hands.
These are the same hands that land lots of big bass in the PAYCHECK Tournament Series. It makes perfect sense that Sean claims “Finesse Fishing” as his preferred technique. Coupled with Mike’s Power Fishing it’s easy to see why this team is always a threat…they have all the bases covered!
His fishing idols include Mike Iaconelli, partner Mike Sentore, and “anyone else named Mike”!
Sean states that his favorite fishing location is Lake Ontario and my guess is it’s not for the largemouth population. You can find him drop shotting with various soft plastic profiles.
While he is partial to Shimano Citica baitcasters and Stradic spinning reels Sean does not have a rod preference. He’ll utilize whichever one feels right for the occasion.
His largest bass to date surrendered at the Potomac River, a 6 pounds, 8 ounce largemouth.
When not working or fishing, Sean enjoys playing guitar in the band, Clamfight (www.clamfight.bandcamp.com) and toying with his Mustang.
When asked whether he had any sponsors Sean exclaimed that he didn’t know they gave sponsorships to guys in the back of the boat. Sounds like an opportunity to me.
Mike and Sean continually strive to develop new techniques and patterns for catching big bass. Don’t look for them in a crowd, though as they have a knack for locating quality bass in areas that receive little pressure.
We are proud to have such fine gentlemen representing the Paycheck organization… although the bass might not share the same sentiments.
