The final PAYCHECK Oneida Teams tournament was held at Oneida Shores County Park on Saturday, September 27 with 18 teams present.
Although the weather was calm the lake was still churning thanks to a day-long poker run but that didn’t seem to deter the anglers or the bass. All 18 teams returned to the ramp with a 5-fish limit and some quality fish were placed on the scale, both green and brown.
Stan Sypeck fished with his son, Nathan and they were the first team out of the money with 16.58 pounds.
Brett Milliken and sub David Pilcher claimed 3rd place today with 17.23 pounds. They each received a plaque and a total of $410 in prize money.
Larry Mazur and Ian Renfrew have had a great year and today was no different with a second place finish. They weighed 18.11 pounds and also received plaques and $720 including Option Pot money.
The day didn’t’ start off too well for today’s champions as they discovered a flat tire after arriving at the ramp. Their luck turned around, however when the big bass started biting. Jason Shipton and John Lorenzo sacked up 18.68 pounds of bass including the tournament lunker at 6.03 pounds. Including Option Pot Jason and John received $1500 plus 3 plaques.
With the big fish starting to bite the upcoming Championship on October 9-10 should be a slugfest. Remember, if you fished any 5 PAYCHECK tournaments this year you are eligible to fish the Championship.
