Another PAYCHECK Open tournament was held out of Anchor Marina on October 6th. The recap article for this tournament could begin line most other tournaments lately…WINDY! It blew early and constant throughout the day causing many of the 13 teams to alter their preconceived gameplans.
Regardless, PAYCHECK anglers are a cut above the rest and know how to find bass in difficult situations and today was no different. 11 limits were presented on the toughest of days.
Mike Piccolo and Eric Galasso finished in 5th place today with 5 nice largemouth weighing 17.04 pounds. They also caught the big bass of the tournament, a great 6.27 bass which fell victim to a handcrafted Bob Allen Pot Belly crankbait. This fish earned them a plaque and $130.
PAYCHECK newcomers Tony Rocco and Bob Potts proved they fit in nicely as they carried 17.91 pounds of bass to the scales. That’s a fantastic weight for today or any other day.
John Shumate fished solo today and remarked he chose to fish the unprotected grass flats. He rode the waves all day long throwing crankbaits around and over the grass…a technique he couldn’t have achieved without his Power Pole shallow water anchoring system. John put 17.95 pounds of bass on the scales. Great job, John!
Eric Danner and Ace Brinkman had a stellar day on the Upper Bay catching multiple limits of bass. When their culling was completed they had amassed a total weight of 19.49 pounds! Their weight was good for second place and a total of $470 in cash including Option Pot loot.
19.93 pounds was the winning weight for Keith Cowan and Zack Cowan who continue to pile up the cash this year thanks to their tournament winnings. Boasting a nice 5.20 pounder in their big sack of bass, Keith and Zach also boasted a PAYCHECK Payday of $1270. How’s that for a 13 boat tournament? That’s what a 90% payback will do for you!
The PAYCHECK Fall/Winter Tour begins November 17th alternating between Anchor Marina and Tydings Park. This will be a qualifying trail for 2013 as Points and Pounds will be accumulated in order to qualify for the Grand Championship next year.
