Well, it was windy on the big pond Saturday, October 25th but that didn’t seem to phase any of the 9 teams that entered the final PAYCHECK ConowingoTeams make-up tournament. This event was moved from Peach Bottom due to an Outage at the Power Plant that has 3000 additional government employees on site that are utilizing every square inch of pavement, blacktop and grass to park for the next 55 days so boat trailers are banned during this period.
Regardless of the minor inconvenience it was nice that Butch at Glen Cove Marina was able to accommodate us for this tournament and our next 2 PAYCHECK Fall/Winter opens. All teams launched at safe lite and returned safely to the ramp by 3:00PM. Although everyone had to deal with low water, 7 teams had a limit and all but one team had at least one bass close to, or over 4 pounds.
Darin Doll and Ken Klinedinst bagged a fine limit of smallmouth that weighed 15.29 pounds and claimed 3rd place, good for 2 plaques. Great job!
PAYCHECK Conowingo Anglers of the Year Terry Nolt and Justin Martin received plaques and $460 for their second place finish with a fabulous weight of 15.75 pounds. They had a stellar year cashing in almost every event.
Herb Weichmann’s regular partner couldn’t fish in the tournament and Herb was having trouble finding a last minute replacement so he decided to go it alone. Herb, for those of you who don’t know, is the owner of Precision Tackle, a major PAYCHECK sponsor. After today’s performance he might decide to put himself on the Precision Tackle Pro Staff! He carried a big sack of brown fish to the scale that weighed 16.66 pounds which gave him the victory by less than a pound. Including option pot Herb won $935 and 2 plaques. Way to go!
My guess is that you can find Herb’s winning tackle and gear at Precision Tackle at 712 S. Main Street, North East, MD, a short cast away from Anchor Marina.
There are 2 PAYCHECK Fall/Winter Opens at Conowingo this month, both launching from Glen Cove Marina. The dates are November 8 and November 22.
