Unfortunately tournament fishermen see this several times a year: the weather is great all week until tournament morning when a front blows through. This was one of those tournaments. Regardless of the weather, 5 hearty teams were on hand at Tydings Park around 5:00AM. Several teams decided against fishing with the high winds forecast throughout the day. The wind blew the tide out and the water muddied up quickly leaving very little positive looking fishing spots.
It was a quick weigh-in as only two teams weighed in fish. Nary McGonegal and Mike Piccolo paired up to catch 4 largemouth that weighed 8.50 pounds. That was a big weight today as it gave them second place and also lunker (barely) with 3.48 pounds. Mary and Mike won $125 in prize money.
Austin Carter and Mike Saganich had a little somethin’, somethin’ going on as they returned to the ramp also with 4 bass but 2 of them were nice smallmouth. Hmmm, did Austin and Mike find a little spot up in the river with some clearer water? Austin is a fine young angler and Mike confessed that Austin caught both smallmouth, one of which was in the 3 pound class. Young Mr. Carter mentioned that the Lord answered his prayers in the morning and said he wanted to buy something nice for his Grandma with his share of the $450 prize money. How’s that for a young man headed in the right direction?
Thanks to all who competed in both His and Hers/Adult and Youth tournaments this year. Look for the 2013 dates soon!
